I changed to OpenDNS on the node connected to the cable modem which is the one that serves as the router. I did turn it off and turn it back on. Then I used a computer plugged in by Ethernet to one of the other nodes.

OpenDNS is a great service and works well with my 3-unit eero setup. Easy to configure - just enter the 2 DNS server addresses in eero app's Network Settings > Advanced > DNS. It's not clear to me what would be gained by the original poster's suggestion to offer OpenDNS during the initial eero setup.

Now, I prefer to configure OpenDNS right on the router so that it applies to any and all devices on my network that use the internet.
